“A little thought and a little kindness are
often worth more than a great deal of money” – John Ruskin
Money Money Money !!! The world is going
crazy after it. Everything has become secondary today in front of these pieces
of paper. ‘Love’, is something we all search for, we all look for, and we all
crave for. But I am confused with the present state of affairs where love,
relations, friendship and even being together is directly proportional to money.
People killing family members, friends, relatives, husband/wives for money
(sometimes even for a very meagre amount).
I agree, money is important, rather very
important in life, but it is not the ‘only’ thing or consideration to be with
someone. I have seen girls making rich boyfriends for money, for expensive
gifts and so on. And the day they stop spending money on them..well, end of the
relationship. People who are so called ‘rich’, keep relation with those who
match their financial status and look down upon or ignoring those who are below
them in terms of money. Relations make or break with the amount of money
someone holds in his pocket.
It has always amused me. Isn’t it strange? People
have become so money minded, their wishes and desires have become so high and
all they want is just money or be in contact with people who have it with them.
Relationships, love, feelings, empathy are all things of the past now. Everything
is losing their true value and meaning from the hearts of the people. All the
things required to be called human vanish when it is about money. These words
are dying a miserable death under those stacks of paper.
I am a believer in love. I don’t remember making friends or even talking to
people in general based on their financial status. Money has always been
secondary to me. Even when I think about marriage, money is never the prime
factor. I guess I am educated enough to earn. I also don’t believe that only a
man is responsible to feed his family. If a girl has earning capacity, then she
can very well support a family after marriage on her own. When we cry so much
for gender equality, then why not equality here?
It’s a very weird society we live in. I
never understood this mindset of people based on money. Many won’t accept this fact
but it is a bitter reality. Have our desires become so big, have our lifestyle
and wishes reached to that level that we forget everything and remember just
money? Money corrupts mind and a corrupted mind is never sane.
Money can buy a lot of things but not love
and feelings. Can’t we all think of keeping the relationship alive in our
hearts irrespective of the money someone has in his pocket or bank account? Can’t we love and respect a person for what
and how he is and keep aside his financial status? Can we stop the mental
torture someone has to go through just because he doesn’t have what is required
to be called ‘rich’? Can’t we value people over money? When we will understand
money is just a piece of paper, we have it today; we may not have it tomorrow. People,
if we value them, will be always with us, but not money. Better to invest time
and feelings in humans rather than a piece of paper. Having a rich and a big
heart is all what matters.
“Money
has never made man happy, nor will it; there is nothing in its nature to
produce happiness. The more of it one has, the more one wants.” - Benjamin Franklin

I've always wondered why people are so hooked on money. Your post has really summed up the downside and the evil side of money very well!
